'Community, Empathy, Humanity' — SHELL at Odyssey Theatre Ensemble
Developing a work in just two days with a new cast is an exercise in trust and deep listening. It is exciting to see those values reflected back in Slayton’s writing, where he notes our strong sense of intimacy and connection. Along with incredible support from Odyssey Theatre Ensemble’s Barbara Muller-Wittman, Intrepid Dance Project collaborators Jennifer Jonasson, Juan D. Mendoza, Lise Hart, Candace Strickland, Jaz Dicey and Doug Goldstein made this experiment in community art-building magical and profound.
Ecotone: Interactive Sound Trail
This article in The Dartmouth highlights my collaboration with sound artist Menghan Wang. Supported by a 2024 Artist Residency with the National Park Service at Marsh-Billings Rockefeller National Historic Park Woodstock, VT, we explored the intersection of movement and field recordings to create the Ecotone Trail interactive trail walk . This research served as the foundation for a performance installation at the 2025 INSTINCT Dance Festival in Burlington, VT.
‘Vulture Sister Song’ Explores Humans and Nature
Our 2024 review in Seven Days offers a portrait of the multidisciplinary performance when it returned to Vermont audiences after touring nationally. Created with dear collaborators Kate Elias, Pete Dybdahl, Josina Guess and Jacob Elias, the project celebrated the vibrant possibilities of interdependence through dance, storytelling, folk rock and a migrating herd of lanterns.
